Historic architecture, eclectic art collection, unique room keys

A lot could be improved here!!! Maintenance issues, such as peeling paint and poor cleanliness, detract from the charm. Wi-Fi intermittently fails!!! An update on bathroom fixtures would also be appreciated!!!

    great stay with minor quirks

The host was gracious. The historic ambiance of the house sets it apart. You can feel the charm in every corner! We enjoyed a quiet night's sleep in ournice and neat room. The easy access to parking was a huge plus, great to explore freely.

The lack of clear signage made it a bit tricky to find the entrance at first.

    poor cleanliness

We really enjoyed the fascinating history shared by the owner. It had the best toppings fresh out of the oven.

My wife says that the cleanliness could be greatly improved, especially for families with little ones. It's essential to have a pristine environment for peace of mind.

    quirky art
    historic atmosphere
    serene neighborhood
    cleanliness concerns

Quirky art collection fills the common spaces, giving a rich historical vibe that's hard to replicate. The neighborhood has a charming small square that feels serene, perfect for a morning stroll before heading out to explore the city.

The hotel shows its age with multiple maintenance issues, such as peeling paint and inconsistent plumbing. Some rooms, while unique, present cleanliness concerns, as linens had stains and the presence of musty odors were notable. The setup could feel like wandering through someone's cluttered home, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. The plumbing wasn't always reliable, and I experienced a bathroom light bulb that was out. A late check-in at 6 PM isn't ideal when you want to start your evening plans early, though it's helpful to leave luggage temporarily.

The charming old-fashioned decor was like stepping back in time, with warm colors and beautiful artwork everywhere, especially the pieces by Nick's wife. I felt very comfortable wandering around the common areas, soaking in the history.

Signage to locate the mansion was lacking.

We had a lovely stay at The Historic Mansion. The owner, Nick, was friendly and shared fascinating stories about the history of the home. The architecture was excellent, with high ceilings and spacious rooms. Despite some minor wear and tear, the rooms werenice and neat. The location was convenient, with attractions like Yale and great restaurants just a short walk away. I would highly recommend this unique and charming place to stay in New Haven.
